Various Signage | Shop Front | Vehicle Signage | Neon & Illuminated | General Signage | Various Signage | DANICS This large automotive business was losing out on potential customers with it’s out of the way location. Our brief was to substantially improve their visibility, and the signage we designed and installed certainly did that! We ran more than 70 metres of red neon across the fascia of their building below internally illuminated fabricated acrylic letters; it is now a local landmark.
| COMMANDER COMMUNICATION Commander was looking for a complete fit out for their newest franchise. Correct corporate identification is crucial for brand continuity and it is important that corporate specifications be followed to the letter. Note the digitally printed one-way vision perforated film on the office windows, this provided privacy without restricting light or their view out of the windows.
| KINGS THEATRE, NOW ANITA’S THEATRE The refurbishment of this marvelous old theatre has been one of Wollongong’s most important heritage renewals in recent years. We have provided all the signage for the project, for John Comelli of Comel Construct. Renamed Anita’s Theatre, we installed the art deco look polished aluminium laser cut letters, bordered with red neon. The effect is spectacular. John Comelli: “Hessel Kaan Signs has to produce first quality work in very tight timeframes and we are always delighted by his work”.
| TODAY’S PRESTIGE INTERIORS We handle all the signage for this large shop fitting company, who specialise in shopping centre fit outs. Shop fit outs require many different trades people to work together to meet the designer’s specifications. We have more then 3 decades experience, so use someone you can trust for your important project. TPI says: “Hessel Kaan Signs can be trusted to deliver a quality product in a what is often a very demanding time frame. We use them for all our signage”.
For this customer we used a 3m x 600mm x 16mm MDF panel with a combination of intracut 35mm letters, 32mm pin fix letters and 32mm glue fix letter, and applied digitally printed graphics to the reverse side of glass for the front of the counter.
| DARLING HARBOUR EXHIBITION CENTRE DARLING HARBOUR We took this project from design through to installation for Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre. It comprised five 3.6m diameter discs cut from 36mm MDF, laminated with Laminex, sign written by means of laser cut 16mm MDF letters measuring 1.2m in height, all suspended with invisible supports in front of banners measuring 7m x 10m. Each disc weighed 300kgs. The client was extremely impressed with the results.
| DEFINITION We have provided the signage for all Definition Health Clubs new gym fit outs in shopping centres across Sydney. For this new gym at Westpoint we used over 30m of translucent window graphics giving high impact dynamic look on the street front while still allowing natural light into the club. We manufactured double-sided Light Boxes with internal cantilevers, as well as all the internal signage.

| MCDONALD’S AUSTRALIA We carry out maintenance on all types of pylon and sky signs, as well as neon. In the Illawarra’s coastal position, regular maintenance of these types of signs is essential to keep them working safely, and maintain their appearance to advertise your business well.
| DOUGMAL WARILLA We undertook the re-branding of several real estate offices across the Illawarra as part of a new corporate look. The signage at the Warilla branch “took this suburb into the 21st century” according to owner Roger Okvirk. The sign lights up one of the suburb’s major intersections and is a real draw card for their business.
| MITSUBISHI MOTORS Our client brief was for cost effective signage which met corporate guidelines. This wall signage was digitally printed, using a shaded drop shadow to give the sign the illusion of depth. The plinth sign at the front of the yard measured 1.5m wide by 4.8m and was made of four 1.2m sections on each side with flat faces, and three panels clear anodised, and one powder coated red, with three dimensional letters with anodised aluminium faces attached to the red faces and a three dimensional star, all resting on a 1 cubic metre concrete footing. This type of plinth sign gives a stylish appearance to any business.

| Shop Front | DONUT CAFÉ Shopping centre signage requires a high level of graphic and technical expertise, as well as the ability to work to tight time frames. Today’s prestige Interiors Ricky Woolett says: We have used Hessel Kaan Signs on many shopfitting projects, they have always delivered on time, to budget and always go the extra mile when needed.”
| THE CHICKEN KING For this new fit out at a Stocklands mall we followed strict specifications to the letter to make a reality of this very stylish design. Colour back glass is often used in these applications; in this case digitally printed colour graphics behind glass in the menu signs.

| Vehicle Signage | SMALL FRYS We totally wrapped this wagon in digitally printed graphics. This requires a high level of expertise, and only premium grade vinyl will wrap successfully. It’s not the cheapest option, but by far the most effective.
| IT’S A TOUCH SHARP You may not want a full vehicle wrap, here’s what a small amount of graphics on your vehicle can look like. This is a more economical way of branding your mobile billboard!

| Neon & Illuminated | CIVIC VIDEO Hessel Kaan Signs has been providing the signage solutions for many of the Civic Video franchises for many years. For this business in Shellharbour we installed a 7 metre high pylon sign, which can be seen for many kilometres as it is on the top of a hill. We outlined their building with neon in a very distinctive wave design, their brief was to match the excitement of movie going with their premises, and we have more than satisfied those criteria. Their brand always has their name up in lights in neon, and CEO Gary Nelson says:” Hessel Kaan Signs have always been very easy to deal with, on time and with great ideas”
| HIBA CONVENIENCE This sign illustrates the use of neon against a painted background inside a shop window. The shop is set back a little from the street and the client’s brief was to make it stand out. His business improved out of sight with passing traffic able to see him 24 hours a day.
| COLEDALE CELLARS We worked to an architect’s specifications for this business, as part of a complete refurbishment. This sign uses aluminium laser cut letters back lit with neon for a stylish modern look. White light best preserves the colour integrity of the design in this type of sign.
| CRINGILA HOTEL This local landmark wanted to update their look, using their new logo. We designed this gorgeous sign using laser cut letters, pin set to stand off the wall for maximum impact to show the beautiful halo effect of the white neon. “Your prompt, quality work is the reason I have called upon you to carry out all our major advertising and lighting projects.” says licensee/owner Robert Grisillo, another satisfied customer.
| PALM COURT HOTEL Palm Court Hotel wanted to open their new beer café with a big impact sign, and for impact there is nothing better than neon. We designed their sign using a profile cut, fabricated acrylic, internally illuminated Beer Cafe logo along with traditional bare red neon, the whole sign is mounted on a custom made powder coated aluminium box with a hinged front face to facilitate maintenance. The customer was very happy with the finished product.

| General Signage | PLUME One of the shop fit outs in the Anita’s Theatre refurbishment in Thirroul needed an intricate faux sand blasted glass motif for their shop front. A 3 dimensional effect was created using gold polyester vinyl laid onto the rear of computer cut vinyl to give a beveled edge to the gold and a digitally printed peacock feather as a finishing touch.
| CRINGILA HOTEL Our customer was looking for an eye-catching banner to advertise his afternoon specials to passing vehicle traffic. We digitally printed a banner 7.5 m long by 1.2m high. Note the readability of the layout and the balance of the graphics and photos. Colours all work together as well. | KATZ & MARX This prestigious salon, close to the Opera House, needed a luxurious elegant sign to match their location. We used sand blasted Verde marble, and hand painted gold to the internals of the letters.
| COLLIERS INTERNATIONAL This prestigious real estate firm chose us to do the signage at their new high profile Wollongong office. We prepared and installed two signs onto the wall above the awning signs comprising of a laminated digital print laid onto polypropylene and aluminium composite panels to give a super flat sign, with the northern sign packed out to clear the profile on the wall. This attention to detail ensures the sign quality enhances the business' brand. Note the prominence of the phone number in the layout; we know how to give your business the edge.
| VEREKERS LAWYERS This legal firm’s corporate look was enhanced with the signage we designed and installed for them at their new offices using 6mm clear anodised aluminium letters, all “pin fixed” to the brick wall to minimise the risk of vandalism. This is a better option than glue in vandal prone areas.
| SOUTHERN CROSS TEN This sign at their southern headquarters is installed using a split batten system to ensure no screws show through the sign face. Following corporate identity guidelines is second nature to us, to ensure brand integrity.
| BL MOTORS This sign is 1.2m computer cut vinyl letters, on profile cut painted Weathertex. This business is at the end of a long driveway; our design ensures customers can’t miss it! A sign like this is a good economical option for a small business, as it is very cost effective and durable.
| WAVE FM Another type of signage for advertising your business which looks very eye-catching. We used 10mm clear acrylic board with the background and logo sign written on the rear. The letters were laser cut from 3mm acrylic and fixed to the front. This gives a 3 D effect, and makes a statement at the entrance to one of Wollongong’s primary radio stations. The client needed to give an ‘up market’ feel to their visiting clients. Cost effective and unique.
| PORT KEMBLA COAL TERMINAL SOLAR SIGN Concern for the environment and safety was the motivator for this client’s brief to us. We installed a solar powered, electronic rolling message board, into a road side sign constructed to RTA standards. As the brief was for the electronic sign to run at night as well we custom designed electronics and battery packs to ensure the sign has high visibility 24/7.
